GVSS has been providing services to Grimes area residents since February 2011.  Since then we have provided more than 13,700 trips (including over 4,900 to the Grimes Senior Meal Site), driven over 197,900 miles and contributed over 32,400 hours of service to organize and provide assistance to residents of the community.

GVSS has over 230 clients and over 85 volunteers providing services.

Because of outstanding community support, we have grown tremendously since 2011.  We do not employ any staff but are an all-volunteer organization.  We continue to need additional volunteers.  If you are interested, please contact our office at 515-986-5355.

Since we began.....

Office hours are between 9 and 11 AM each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We will make arrangements to meet you there at some other time if that is not convenient.  Give us a call.

We were formed in 2010 to provide assistance to area residents to help them stay in their homes.  We are an all-volunteer organization that provides transportation and other services without charge to those in need.  Our focus has always been "neighbors helping neighbors".

If you've ever thought about volunteering for GVSS, now is a really good time for us to talk.  We need additional drivers and folks to remove snow this winter.  You tell us when you are available.  Things we never do:  pressure you to do something, try to give guilt trips, make you feel you have to!  We give opportunities for service.

ANOTHER thing to check out on our Resource page is information on two nearby local programs patterned after GVSS.  Bob King is heading up SAILDC,  www.saildc.org/ (Sustaining Active Independent Living in Dallas Center).   Karen Thompson is heading up Volunteer Community Supports of Woodward & Granger (www.VCSWG.org).

See our resource page for links.
